What are Dental Bridges & Why Does Glacial Dental Use Them?
Glacial Dental provides dental bridges as a solution for missing teeth. The process begins with a consultation with one of our dentists, who will examine your mouth and determine if a dental bridge is the right solution for you. If it is, we will then prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by removing some of the enamel to make room for the bridge. Impression molds are taken of your teeth and sent to a dental lab where the bridge will be custom made to fit your mouth. Once the bridge is complete, we will securely bond it to your prepared teeth, restoring your smile and bite.
Dental bridges are necessary when a person has one or more missing teeth. When a tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth can shift out of place, leading to bite problems and potential jaw problems. A bridge helps to fill the gap left by the missing tooth and prevents these issues from occurring. Bridges are made from materials such as porcelain, ceramic, or metal, and are custom made to blend in with your natural teeth. They can be a great alternative to dentures, as they are permanent and do not need to be removed for cleaning. Bridges also help to restore the ability to chew and speak properly and can improve the overall appearance of your smile.
The Dental Bridge Procedure
A dental bridge procedure typically involves the following steps:
Preparation: The dentist will numb the area around the missing tooth and remove any decay or damaged tissue. The adjacent teeth will also be prepared by reshaping them to accommodate the bridge.
Impressions: The dentist will then take impressions of the prepared teeth and surrounding gum tissue to create a mold. This mold will be used by the dental lab to create a custom-fit bridge.
Temporary Bridge: While the permanent bridge is being made, the dentist will place a temporary bridge to protect the prepared teeth and maintain the shape of the gum tissue.
Bonding: Once the permanent bridge is ready, the dentist will remove the temporary bridge and check the fit of the permanent one. If it fits properly, the dentist will clean and polish the prepared teeth, and then bond the bridge to them using a strong dental adhesive.
Final Adjustments: The dentist will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit and proper bite.
Aftercare: The patient will receive instructions on how to care for the new dental bridge and will be scheduled for follow-up appointments to check the fit and ensure proper healing. This process sets each patient up for maximum success with a beautiful and natural smile build upon a proper dental bridge.
